Abstract	Glavni cilj diplomskoga rada je odrediti optimalnu veličinu izgradnje fotonaponske elektrane prema isplativosti ulaganja za obiteljsku kuću. Navedene su relacije i načini računanja pojedinih vrijednosti, potrebnih za izračun optimalne veličine preko matematičkog modela. Prikazan je postupak određivanja svih vrijednosti koje utječu na taj račun. Pod tim se podrazumijevaju cijene troškova i dobiti električne energije u Republici Hrvatskoj, cijene investicije za fotonaposke module, pretvarače, instalacije te održavanje, potencijalne Sunčeve dobitke na temelju lokacije objekta i sl. Dan je primjer obiteljske kuće na kojoj je primijenjen matematički model te određena optimalna veličina izgradnje fotonaponske elektrane. Dobivene relacije, odnosno, matematički model sluti kao pomoć za određivanje isplativosti ulaganja u fotonaponsku elektranu. Rad je namijenjen lakšem i točnijem određivanju veličine fotonaponske elektrane prema određenoj građevini.
Abstract (english)	The aim of this paper is to determine the optimal size of the photovoltaic power plant in consideration of the return on investment on the example of a family house. The relations and methods used in the calculations of individual values which are necessary for the determination of the optimal size of the photovoltaic power plant are given in the paper. The process of determining these values is shown aswell. This includes the following: the prices of costs/profits for buying/selling the electricity in the Republic of Croatia, investment prices for photovoltaic modules, converters, installations and maintenance, aswell as potential solar gains based on the location of the building in question (e.g. family house). In this paper, mathematical model was applied to a family house to determine the optimal size of the photovoltaic power plant based on household's consumption of electricity. The given relations (i.e. mathematical model) serves as an aid for determing the profitability of the investments in a photovoltaic power plant. The intention of this paper is to make determining the size of the photovoltaic power plant easier and more accurate.
