Nadalje, odontomi,
ciste i mukokele mogu se javiti u dječjoj populaciji i zahtijevaju uklanjanje kirurškim
pristupom.
apsces. U dječjoj dobi zbog istraživanja okoline i igre, nerijetko dolazi do traumatskih ozljeda
orofacijalnog sustava. Zahvaćeni zubi i okolna tkiva zahtijevaju hitnu sanaciju i spremnost
terapeuta.
Abstract (english) Oral surgery in pediatric dentistry is related to clinical conditions that are specific to children
or involves classic surgical procedures that need to be modified due to the morphological and
anatomical characteristics of children. The therapist must individually approach the plan and
implementation of therapy and assess the type of behavior of the child. The most common
procedure in dental offices is tooth extraction. Likewise, orthodontic anomalies caused by
tooth impaction are often diagnosed in children, so procedures for showing or extracting an
impacted tooth are also very common. Furthermore, odontomas, cysts, and mucocele may
occur in the pediatric population and require removal by surgical approach. In addition to
classical surgery, these procedures can be performed by alternative methods, e.g. using a
laser. In the case of odontogenic infections, it is very important to react in time - to recognize
the tooth that caused infection, to do its treatment or extraction and to drain the existing
abscess. In childhood, due to exploration of the environment and playing, traumatic injuries of
the orofacial system often occur. Affected teeth and surrounding tissues require urgent
rehabilitation and the readiness of the therapist. In tissue abnormalities such as pronounced
labial frenulum and ankyloglossia, frenectomy is performed by classical methods or by using
alternative methods such as lasers and electrocauterization. Some congenital disorders are
manifested in the oral cavity, so surgical procedures such as extractions, dental imaging and
implant procedures are often performed. Complications of oral surgery in children do not
differ from those in adults, and in order to prevent their occurrence, the most important thing
is to take a good anamnesis and be prepared for the possibility of their occurrence.
