Abstract	Uvod: Respiratorni sincicijski virus je odgovoran za više od 80% infekcija donjih dišnih putova u novorođenčadi mlađe od godine dana. Gotovo sva djeca zaražena su barem jednom u dobi od 2 godine, ali najveća incidencija javlja se u dobi između 2 i 3 mjeseca i odgovara najnižim koncentracijama zaštitnog majčinog imunoglobulin G antitijela koji se prenosi na fetus kroz posteljicu. Sezonski napadi ovog virusa javljaju se svake godine u cijelom svijetu, iako se početak, vrhunac i trajanje razlikuju od godine do godine. Postupci: Podaci potrebni za ovaj rad biti će prikupljeni iz široko dostupnih on-line znanstvenih baza pretraživanjem domaće i strane literature koje uključuju: PubMed, Scopus, Medline, Embasu, i Hrčak sa ključnim riječima korištenim u pretraživanju. Pretraživane ključne riječi uključuju pojmove: RSV, bronhiolitis, pedijatrija, medicinska sestra. Prikaz teme: RSV-om uzrokovan bronhiolitis je samoograničavajuća bolest s izvrsnom dugoročnom prognozom. Također, RSV je sveprisutna infekcija sa značajnim globalnim kliničkim i financijskim opterećenjem. Trenutno se liječenje RSV-a u novorođenčadi i djece prvenstveno podupire antivirusnim lijekovima rezerviranim samo za najugroženiju populaciju. Zaključak: Prevencija i zdravstveno obrazovanje važan su dio sestrinstva. Pedijatrijske medicinske sestre odabrale su poseban poziv koji pruža priliku da igraju ključnu ulogu u djetetovom životu kada su tom djetetu najpotrebnije.
Abstract (english)	Introduction: Respiratory syncytial virus is responsible for more than 80% of lower respiratory tract infections in infants less than one year of age. Almost all children are infected at least once at the age of 2 years, but the highest incidence occurs between the ages of 2 and 3 months and corresponds to the lowest concentrations of maternal protective immunoglobulin G antibody transmitted to the fetus through the placenta. Seasonal attacks of this virus occur every year around the world, although the onset, peak, and duration vary from year to year. Procedures: The data required for this paper will be collected from widely available online scientific databases searching domestic and foreign literature that include: PubMed, Scopus, Medline, Embasu and Hrčak with the keywords used in the search. Searched keywords include terms: RSV, bronchiolitis, pediatrics, nurse. Overview: Bronchiolitis caused by RSV is a self-limiting disease with an excellent long-term prognosis. Also, RSV is a global infection with a significant global clinical and financial burden. Currently, RSV treatment in neonates and children is primarily supported by antiviral drugs reserved only for the most vulnerable population. Conclusion: Prevention and health education are an important part of nursing. Pediatric nurses have chosen a special calling that provides an opportunity to play a key role in a child’s life when they are most needed by that child.
