Abstract | Cilj: Glavni je cilj ovoga istraživanja usporediti oralni status kontaktnih sportaša s
medicinu i zdravstvo u Osijeku.
(p=0.01), FMBS indeksu (p=0.01), BEWE testu (p=0.03) i pH testu (p=0.004). KEP indeks
kontaktnih sportaša i kontrolne skupine ne pokazuje statistički značajnu razliku. Promatrajući
spol ispitanika, nije bilo statistički značajne razlike u varijablama KEP indeksa, FMPS indeksa,
FMBS indeksa, pH testa i BEWE testa iako su neke razlike primijećene. Dokazano je da ne
postoji statistički značajna razlika kod rezultata KEP, FMPS, FMBS indeksa, BEWE i pH testa
razlike nema.
Zaključak: Kontaktni sportaši imaju lošiji oralni status nego nesportaši. Promatrane varijable
pokazuju razlike u ovisnosti o spolu, dobnoj skupini i utjecaju traume. |
Abstract (english) | Objective: The main goal of this research is to compare the oral status of contact athletes with
non-athletes.
Study design: The research was conducted in the form of case-control study.
Participants and Methodology: The research included 40 participants from 18 to 44 years
old. Half (20) of the respondents were case group and half were control group. Case group
were athletes who practiced contact sports such as football, water polo and boxing. The other
20 respondents were part of the control group, coincidental visitors of Faculty of Dental
Medicine and Health in Osijek. A clinical examination was performed on all subjects: BEWE
test, pH test of saliva after training, DMFT index, FMBS index and FMPS index were
recorded. All subjects answered whether or not they had dentoalveolar trauma.
Results: The variability between contact athletes and non-athletes is present in FMPS
(p=0.01), FMBS (p=0.01) index, BEWE (p=0.03) and pH test (p=0.004). DMFT index of
contact athletes and the control group does not show statistically significant difference.
Observing the sex of the subjects, there was no statistically significant difference in the
variables of the DMFT index, FMPS, FMBS index, pH and BEWE test, although some
differences were observed. It has been proven that there is no statistically significant
difference in the results of DMFT, FMPS, FMBS index, BEWE and pH test with regard to the
age groups, even though the values for the fourth age group differ from the others. Subjects
exposed to dental trauma show higher values of DMFT, FMPS, FMBS index and BEWE test
in contrast to those who did not have trauma, although there is no statistically significant
difference.
Conclusion: Contact athletes have worse oral status than non-athletes. The observed variables
show differences depending on gender, age group and the impact of trauma. |
