pitanje jesu li ikada imali dentoalveolarnu traumu.
Rezultati: Postoji varijabilnost između beskontaktnih sportaša i nesportaša u FMBS indeksu i
pH testu. KEP indeks beskontaktnih sportaša i kontrolne skupine, FMPS indeks i BEWE
ukupno ne pokazuje statistički značajnu razliku. S obzirom na spol ispitanika, pH test pokazuje
statistički značajnu razliku (p=0.04) između muškoga i ženskoga spola. U varijablama KEP
indeksa, FMPS indeksa, FMBS indeksa i BEWE ukupno nema statistički značajne razlike, no
KEP indeks i pH izračunom diference pokazuju veće vrijednosti u ispitanika četvrte dobne
FMBS-a naspram onih koji nisu imali traume iako same statistički značajne razlike nema. pH
Promatrane varijable pokazuju razlike u ovisnosti o spolu, dobnoj skupini i utjecaju traume.
Abstract (english) Objective: The aim of this study was to determine whether there are differences in the oral
status of non-contact athletes and non-athletes.
Outiline of the study: The research was conducted in the form of case-control study.
Participants and Methodology: This research included a total of 40 respondents between the
ages of 18 and 45. The case group consisted of 20 respondents who were recreational and
competitive athletes who play non-contact sports. The control group of 20 respondents
consisted of random visitors at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health in Osijek. All
subjects underwent a clinical examination during which their DMFT (decayed, missing, and
filled teeth) index, FMPS index (%) and FMBS index (%) were recorded, and a BEWE test and
pH test of saliva after training were performed. Respondents answered whether or not they had
ever experienced dentoalveolar trauma.
Results: There is a variability between non-contact athletes and non-athletes in the FMBS index
and a pH test. DMFT index of non-contact athletes and control group, FMPS index and BEWE
in total does not show a statistically significant difference. Considering the sex of the subjects,
the pH test shows a statistically significant difference (p=0.04) between men and women. In
DMFT index, FMPS index, FMBS index and BEWE variables there are no statistically
significant differences in total, but calculation of the difference in the variables of DMFT,
FMPS and FMBS show that these results are higher in male subjects. According to the age,
there was no statistically significant difference. By calculating the difference in DMFT index
and pH, higher values are shown in the respondents of the fourth age group, while the FMPS
and FMBS indices are the lowest in the second age group (20-30 years). Respondents who had
dental traumas show higher values of DMFT, FMPS, FMBS indices compared to those who
did not have trauma, although there is no statistically significant difference. The pH value
between subjects who had and those who did not have dental trauma does not show a
statistically significant difference.
Conclusion: Non-contact athletes have worse oral status than non-athletes. The observed
variables show differences depending on gender, age group and the impact of trauma.
