Abstract
Kriptologija je znanstvena disciplina koja obuhvaća kriptografiju, znanstvenu granu koja se bavi proučavanjem načina slanja poruka na takav način da ih samo onaj kome su namijenjene može pročitati, i kriptologiju, znanstvenu granu koja se bavi proučavanjem postupaka za čitanje kriptiranih poruka bez znanja ključa. U klasičnoj kriptografiji, među brojnim metodama, vrijedno je izdvojiti Vigenerovu šifru. To je polialfabetski kriptosustav u kojem se svako slovo otvorenog teksta supstituira s nekim drugim, ovisno o vrijednosti ključa. Nasuprot toga, imamo moderne simetrične kriptosustave, kao što je DES, koji je bio prvi kriptografski standard u SAD-u, ili AES koji je danas preuzeo njegovu ulogu i koji svojim javno dostupnim algoritmima štite banke, političke informacije, internetsku komunikaciju. U konačnici, kriptografija je danas svuda oko čovjeka i nužno je znati njenu važnost.
Abstract (english)
Cryptology is the science discipline that encompasses cryptography, branch that studies ways of sending message in such manner that only those who are supposted to, can read it, and crptoanalisis, branch that studies the methods to read encrypted message without knowing the key. When we are speaking of classical cryptography, Vignere chiper is good example. That is polyalphabetic cryptosystem in which every letter of the plaintext is substituted by another one, depending on the used key. On the other hand, we have modern symetric chipers, such as DES, which was the first encryption standard int he United States, or AES, the chiper that has now taken DES's role and whose opensource algorithms are now protecting banks, political informations, Web-based communication. In conclusion, cryptography is everywhere and it is essential to know its importance.
