Abstract
Temeljem bioloških značajki umnjaka moguće je odrediti dob osobe u rasponu od 10. do 25. godine života. No kod većeg broja ortopantomograma, taj postupak stomatolozima oduzima dosta vremena. Stoga bi se uvelike smanjilo vrijeme obrade kada bi se taj process automatizirao. Kako bi računalo pribavilo informacije o značajkama umnjaka, potrebno ga je prvo locirati na ortopantomogramu. Za potrebe ovog problema, prilagođen je algoritam modela izgleda (engl. Active Appearance Model). Koristeći skup za treniranje ortopantomograma s ručno označenim umnjacima model izgleda skuplja informacije o različitim varijacijama izgleda umnjaka. Zatim pronalazi umnjak na potpuno novoj slici te prikuplja njegove značajke. Dovodeći te značajke na ulaz prethodno istrenirane neuronske mreže dobiva se procjena dentalne dobi.
Abstract (english)
Using the biological features of the wisdom teeth, it is possible to determine dental age for person between 10 and 25 years of age. But with a large number of orthopantomograms, this procedure takes a lot of time for dentists. Therefore, the processing time would be greatly reduced if this process was automated. For the computer to obtain information on the features of the wisdom tooth, it is necessary to locate it first on the orthopantomogram. Active appearance model was customized for solving this problem. Using a set of training data comprised of orthopantomograms with hand-marked wisdom teeth, AAM obtains information about different variations of wisdom teeth appearance. It then locates wisdom tooth on a completely new image and obtains its features. By using these features as an input for a previously trained neural network, dental age is estimated.
