Abstract
U radu su opisane mogućnosti i ograničenja distribuiranog sustava za upravljanje bazama podataka Apache Cassandra. Prikazani su različiti načini ugradnje sheme podataka, te su kao rezultat rada nastala dva reprezentativna projekta u kojima je na dva različita načina ostvarena društvena mreža. Jedan se projekt temelji na klijentskim spajanjima i normaliziranim podatcima, dok se drugi temelji na denormalizaciji podataka i pravilom „tablica po upitu“. Uz projekte društvene mreže, kreirana je i komandno-linijska aplikacija za mjerenje performansi različitih načina pristupa podatcima unutar jedne particije. Uspoređivane su performanse upita nad materijaliziranim pogledima, podatcima nad kojim su kreirani sekundarni i SASI indeksi te neindeksiranim podatcima uporabom opcije allow filtering.
Abstract (english)
This thesis describes features and limits of Apache Cassandra distributed database management system. It presents various principles of schema design, and as a result two representative projects were made. In these projects a social network is realized in two distinct ways. The first one relies on client-side joins and data normalization, and the second one on data denormalization and „table per query“ rule. Along the social network projects a command-line application for performance measurement was also created. The application measures performance of queries with various access patterns on one partition and compares query speed on materialized views, data with secondary and SASI indexes, and non-indexed data using „allow filtering“ option.
