Abstract
Researchers consider target/moving object tracking as one of the most important applications of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) [6-14] with regard to their use to track objects in battlefields, wildlife or habitat monitoring, and monitoring of hazardous chemicals while they are in transit. Traditional object tracking algorithms are based on heavy and complex signal processing algorithms and they are generally centralized. Hence, traditional object tracking algorithms cannot be applied to WSNs due to their high resource requirements and limitations of sensor nodes such as limited power. Therefore, object tracking algorithms of WSNs should be designed by considering energy conservation, bandwidth and communication overload. Additionally, as practical object tracking applications are typically used in mission-critical applications, security is another important design matter to be considered. In mission-critical applications, sensor nodes are deployed in unfriendly fields and they can be easily captured by foes/intruders. Such compromised nodes can be used to falsify the collected data and threaten the target/object tracking reliability. In this thesis, a secure and reliable target tracking protocol that considers security and target tracking tasks simultaneously is proposed. The basic idea behind the proposed protocol is to ensure tracking security using trust concept for individual sensor nodes. The performance evaluation results show that the use of proposed protocol allows the network to retain the reliability of data even in the presence of compromised nodes thereby achieving secure and reliable target tracking process.
Abstract (croatian)
Bežične senzorske mreže (WSN) su vrsta ad-hoc mreža sa strogim ograničenjem resursa. WSN često se sastoje od velikog broja nasumično raspoređenih senzorskih čvorova, a budući da nasljeđuju sve karakteristike ad-hoc mreže, kao što je samo-organiziranje, samoizlječenje, bežičnost i prilagodljivost, mogu se smatrati kao posebna kategorija ad-hoc mreža [1-2]. Sigurnost u WSN je važna za većinu aplikacija iz sljedećih razloga. Većina senzorskih mreža aktivno prati svoju okolinu, na primjer za praćenje pokretnih objekata na nepristupačnom terenu kao što je slučaj u vojnim aplikacijama. Kod ovih scenarija, jednostavno je ubaciti podatke koji nisu prikupljeni praćenjem pokretnog objekta, te je u ovom primjeru vidljivo da se sigurnost treba razmatrati prilikom dizajna algoritma. Čak i u nekim civilnih aplikacijama, kao što je zdravstvena aplikacija, sigurnost je ključan uvjet za ispravan rad bežične senzorske mreže. Bez adekvatne zaštite, podaci stečene WSN nisu prihvatljivi kao pouzdani i sigurni, a spomenuta aplikacija neće raditi ispravno. Dakle važno je razumjeti koji su rizici kada se radi o senzorskoj mreži postavljenoj u osjetljivom okruženju, i kako se pomenuti rizici mogu umanjiti. Inovativna i nova ideja na kojoj je zasnovan SRPTT je da se računanjem nominacijske vrijednosti pomoću formule za beta reputaciju i računanjem ostatka energije svakog senzorskog, eliminira većina korumpiranih senzorskih čvorova iz izbora za glavni čvor odreženog klastera. Provjera reputacije se računa formulom za beta reputaciju [19]. To uključuje procjenu pouzdanosti senzorskih čvorova koja se izračunava na temelju promatranih dobrih i loših akcija među njima. Osim proučavanja sigurnog i pouzdanog protokola za praćenje objekta prezentiranog u ovoj disertaciji, još uvijek postoje razne ekstenzije i smjernice za budući rad. Jedan od budućih radova je povećanje energetske učinkovitosti SRPTT protokola. Rezultati ovog rada daju dobro polazište za dublje istrage sigurnih i pouzdanih protokola za praćenje objekta. Poboljšanje i dalje istraživanje ove oblasti bi bilo jako korisno, jer su sigurnost i pouzdanost neophodni uvjeti za dobar rad bežične senzorske mreže.
