Abstract
This dissertation discusses the analysis of multilayered dielectric and periodic electromagnetic structures using different asymptotic approaches in order to simplify the derivation of the appropriate Green’s functions or to accelerate their evaluation and application. The acceleration method was developed for the analysis of curved multilayered waveguide arrays and frequency selective surfaces, where the principle of asymptotic extraction was applied in spectral domain analysis in order to reduce its numerical complexity. This was achieved by extracting the simplified “asymptotic problem” which was then solved using much more efficient methods. Since the “asymptotic problems” are not limited only to canonical shapes, an extension of the spectral domain approach to arbitrary curved multilayered structures was developed. Both, the acceleration approach and the extension for arbitrary curved problems, showed very good accuracy in comparison with the results of the existing solutions and measurements. Asymptotic approach was also applied in the analysis of novel gap-waveguide transmission line structures based on different periodic surfaces. In this case homogenized ideal or asymptotic boundary conditions for periodic structures were applied in order to derive Green’s functions for these novel structures. The obtained Green’s functions demonstrate not only that full analysis is possible, showing very good agreement with the already published results and measurements, but also provide a clear physical insight into the propagation mechanisms of these structures. Also, in order to further simplify the analysis of so-called electromagnetic bandgap structures, canonical boundary conditions that take into account the specific behavior of these surfaces were developed. Abstract (croatian)
U radu se analiziraju višeslojne dielektrične i periodičke elektromagnetske strukture korištenjem različitih asimptotskih pristupa koji olakšavaju izvođenje pripadnih Greenovih funkcija ili pojednostavljuju njihovu evaluaciju i primjenu. U slučaju višeslojnih zakrivljenih antenskih struktura, čije su dimenzije velike u odnosu na valnu duljinu, analiza započinje s rigorozno dobivenim Greenovim funkcijama za cilindrične i sferne strukture u spektralnoj domeni. Primjenom tzv. asimptotske ekstrakcije iz spektralnog rješenja se izdvaja “asimptotski problem” koji se zatim rješava primjenom jednostavnijih i bržih metoda. Na taj način bitno je povećana djelotovornost analize, a zadržana gotovo jednaka točnost. Daljnjim razmatranjem rješenja za asimptotske probleme i kombiniranjem sa spektralnom metodom razvijena je također i hibridna metoda analize proizvoljno zakrivljenih struktura, koje primjenom same spektralne metode nije bilo moguće analizirati. Ova metoda demonstrirana je na dva odvojena slučaja, prvom koji je uključivao analizu valovodnih antenskih nizova na proizvoljno zakrivljenim metalnim strukturama prekrivenim višeslojnim dielektrikom, te drugom gdje su se analizirale zakrivljene frekvencijske selektivne površine realizirane pomoću prstenastih elemenata integriranih u višeslojni dielektrik. U oba slučaja ostvarene su bitne uštede u pogledu vremena koje je potrebno za analizu, a iz usporedbe s rezultatima iz drugih izvora, mjerenjima i simulacijama, vidljivo je da točnost analize ostala sačuvana. Asimptotski pristup korišten je i u analizi nove vrste valovodnih prijenosnih linija zasnovanih na primjeni zabranjenog pojasa koji se javlja kod nekih periodičkih struktura. U ovom slučaju primijenjeni su idealni ili asimptotski rubni uvjeti za periodičke structure kako bi se olakšalo dobivanje Greenovih funkcija u spektralnoj domeni za spomenute strukture, te da bi se izbjegla složena analiza pomoću Floquetovih modova. Razvijena metoda, osim što omogućava brzu i djelotvornu analizu, omogućava i jasan uvid u fizikalne mehanizme propagacije kod ovih novih vrsta valovoda. Također, u svrhu još jednostavnije analize problema u kojima se javlja potreba za opisivanjem površina s elektromagnetskim zabranjenim pojasom, razvijena su dva modela idealnih kanonskih rubnih uvjeta za tu vrstu površina. Oba modela, analitički i numerički uniaksijalni model, omogućuju vrlo brzo dobivanje rezultata koji se vrlo dobro slažu s rezultatima dobivenim sa stvarnim praktičnim modelima.
