Abstract
Online igre na sreću funkcioniraju kao crna kutija u smislu da krajnjem korisniku nije poznato na koji način se generirao naizgled slučajan ishod. Poslužitelj igre može deterministički birati ishode koji mu pogoduju i potom ih objaviti kao slučajne. Dokazivo poštene igre rješavaju taj problem pomoću svojstava kriptografskih algoritama. Blockchain tehnologije poput Ethereuma nude nekoliko mehanizama za ostvarivanje dokazive poštenosti. Jedan od njih je Chainlink VRF, dokazivo poštena funkcija za generiranje slučajnih brojeva za pametne ugovore. Ovaj rad nudi pregled osnovnih kriptografskih algoritama, nekoliko utjecajnih blockchain tehnologija, dokazivo poštenih mehanizama za Ethereum i implementaciju dokazivo poštene lutrije koja se oslanja na Chainlink VRF kao izvor nasumičnosti.
Abstract (english)
Online luck-based games are a black box in a sense that players are unable to verify fairness of seemingly random outcomes. The game provider has the ability to publish deterministically chosen outcomes and present them as random. Provably fair games attempt to solve this problem by leveraging properties of cryptographic algorithms. Being open and decentralized, blockchain technologies such as Ethereum provide several mechanisms for implementing provable fairness. One of these mechanisms is Chainlink VRF, a verifiable random function that ensures fairness of random outcomes inside smart contracts. This paper provides an overview of essential cryptographic algorithms, several influential blockchain technologies, provably fair mechanisms for Ethereum and an implementation of a provably fair lottery that relies on Chainlink VRF as a source of randomness.
