Energy renovation of a family house in Selca on the island of Brač is based on the theory of energy efficiency in the buildings sector, good practice examples and expert advice. The analysis of the current situation is defined the actual energy consumption and detected problematic systems and places in terms of energy efficiency. The total heat losses and gains in the budget part are obtained by the IntegraCAD software package, and they just served as proof of energy inefficient construction. The building envelope is restored with construction measures for the insulation of external walls and ceiling and the replacement of existing windows and doors with effective PVC joinery. Thermotechnical systems are reconstructed by centralizing the heating system using RES, replacing the existing air conditioning system and installing a thermosyphon system for DHW preparation. With the mentioned measures of energy renovation, the concept of low-energy construction is reached and significant savings are achieved from the economic, energy and environmental aspects. The investment cost are not negligible, but with the co-financing and incentives of the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the EU, it becomes acceptable and profitable for the lifetime of the entire investment. The comprehensive package of energy renovation measures for the family house achieved the main goals of the project, reduced energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions with increased living comfort and financial stability of the household.
