| Abstract | Metalne pjene imaju mnoga zanimljiva svojstva poput visoke apsorpcije energije i velike krutosti s malom težinom što ih čini zanimljivim za široki spektar industrija. Međutim, način na koji parametri procesa proizvodnje metalnih pjena utječu na njihovu strukturu i svojstva još uvijek je tema brojnih istraživanja te se također ispituje u okviru ovog diplomskog rada. Preliminarna ispitivanja provode se s ciljem određivanja optimalnih vrijednosti parametara procesa potrebnih za kvalitetnu izradu i provedbu plana eksperimenata. U radu se koristio Box-Behnken plan eksperimenata prema kojem je, na temelju zaključaka iz preliminarnih ispitivanja, potrebno izraditi 17 uzoraka kojim će se varirati visina od 40 mm do 70 mm, zatim udio TiH2 od 0,5 % do 1,5 %, te temperatura puhanja od 590 °C do 610 °C. Proces proizvodnje metalnih pjena započinje miješanjem i hladnim sabijanjem čestica aluminijske legure A380 s titanijevim hidridom, nakon čega se izrađeni uzorci istiskuju u toplom stanju. U sljedećem koraku uzorci se režu na male komade i stavljaju u kalup koji se zagrijava na unaprijed definiranu temperaturu prilikom čega dolazi do raspada TiH2. Proizvedenim se pjenama izračunava gustoća, ispituju mehanička svojstva postupkom sabijanja, te određuju veličina i oblik pora računalnom analizom slike pomoću ImageJ programa. Unutar Design Expert 7 programa vrši se analiza utjecaja ulaznih faktora (visina, udio TiH2 i temperatura) na izlazne vrijednosti gustoće, apsorpcije energije, tlačnog naprezanja, granice tečenja, opsega pora te homogenosti poroziteta. Analizom je utvrđeno da dominantan utjecaj na većinu izlaznih vrijednosti ima visina, a optimizacijom unutar programa dobiven je optimalni uzorak sa visinom 46,64 mm, udjelom TiH2 1,5 % i temperaturom puhanja 590 °C. Optimalna metalna pjena ima dobra mehanička svojstva, a gustoća joj je čak tri puta manje od gustoće aluminijske legure A380 iz čega možemo zaključiti da proces proizvodnje metalnih pjena iz otpadnog materijala i titanijevog hidrida ima značajni potencijal, a dobiveni rezultati mogu poslužiti za daljnja istraživanja i poboljšavana ovog procesa. |
| Abstract (english) | Metal foams have many interesting properties such as high energy absorption and high stiffness with low weight which makes them interesting for a wide range of industries. However, the way in which the parameters of the production process of metal foams affect their structure and properties is still the subject of numerous studies and is also being examined in this graduate thesis. Preliminary examination was conducted with the aim of determining the optimal values of process parameters required for quality design and implementation of the experimental plan. This study used the Box-Behnken plan of experiments according to which, based on the conclusions from preliminary examination, it is necessary to compiled 17 samples that will vary the height from 40 mm to 70 mm, then the TiH2 content of 0,5 % to 1,5 % and foaming temperature from 590 °C to 610 °C. The process of production of metal foams begins by mixing and cold compaction of aluminium alloy chips A380 with titanium hydride, after which the produced samples are hot extruded. In the next step, the samples are cut into small pieces and placed in a mold that is heated to a predetermined temperature during which TiH2 decomposes. The produced foams are used to calculate the density, examine the mechanical properties by the compression process, and determine the size and shape of the pores by computer image analysis using the ImageJ program. Within the Design Expert 7 program, the analysis of the influence of input factors (height, TiH2 content and temperature) on the output values of density, energy absorption, compressive stress, yield strength, pore circumference and porosity homogeneity is performed. The analysis showed that height has a dominant influence on most of the output values, and optimization within the program yielded an optimal sample with a height of 46,64 mm, a TiH2 content of 1,5 % and a foaming temperature of 590 °C. Optimal metal foam obtained has good mechanical properties, and its density is three times less than the density of aluminum alloy A380, from which we can conclude that the process of production of metal foams from waste material and titanium hydride has significant potential, and the obtained results can be used for further research and improvement of this process. |
