Abstract
A starting assumption for this study has been that love metaphors are to be found not only in literate texts, songs, proverbs then also in everyday communication. According to their usage, they have been categorised in 24 categories which have been used most frequently. Subcategorisation has been based on 149 metaphors serving as good examples in the study. Investigation showed emotion is one of the basic people ways of expressing themselves. Relationship metaphors capture people's way of experiences and their knowledge of the world. List of metaphors provides a view on the ways people describe their love life and express themselves when under influence of love.
