Abstract Opći cilj ovog istraživanja bio je doprinjeti dosadašnjim spoznajama o modelu učenja zalaganjem u zajednici u nacionalnom visokoškolskom prostoru uz pomoć iskustava sveučilišnih nastavnika koji rade po ovom modelu. Učenje zalaganjem u zajednici je model iskustvenog učenja koji počiva na integraciji kurikuluma i aktivnog angažmana studenata u zajednici s ciljem njihova boljeg razumijevanja sadržaja kolegija te potreba i problema zajednice kao poticanja njihova daljnjeg civilnog zalaganja. Iako se u svijetu na sveučilištima koja teže integraciji akademskih djelatnosti i društvene zajednice u posljednjih četerdesetak godina sustavno razvija i promovira model učenja zalaganjem u zajednici, u Republici Hrvatskoj je primjena tog modela još u povojima, međutim posljednjih godina stanje se poboljšava i sve se više nastavnika uključuje u njegovu primjenu unutar svog područja rada.
Ovo istraživanje polazilo je od kvalitativne istraživačke paradigme, a kao temeljna metoda prikupljanja podataka koristili su se fenomenološki, polustrukturirani intervjui. Ukupno je provedeno 7 intervjua sa sveučilišnim nastavnicima koji primjenjuju model učenja zalaganjem u zajednici u svojoj visokoškolskoj nastavi. Svi sudionici istraživanja bili su ženskog spola, u dobi od 33 do 46 godina te imaju između 6 i 13 godina iskustva u provedbi modela učenja zalaganjem u zajednici. Sudionice istraživanja dolaze s ukupno tri sveučilišta u Republici Hrvatskoj te se bave različitim disciplinama unutar društvenih znanosti. Analiza prikupljenih podataka pokazala je kako su iskustva sveučilišnih nastavnika koji primjenjuju model učenja zalaganjem u zajednici u Republici Hrvatskoj načelno pozitivna, međutim neki od izazova s kojima se susreću su nedostatak institucionalne potpore za integraciju i primjenu modela, nerazumijevanje modela od strane vodećih ljudi na institucijama, kolega i studenata te nedostatak motivacije studenata za rad po ovom modelu. Kao neki od prijedloga za napredovanje modela u hrvatskom visokoškolskom kontekstu su institucionalizacija modela učenja zalaganjem u zajednici, promoviranje modela među sveučilišnim nastavnicima, studentima i partnerima u zajednici, osiguravanje sustava vrednovanja za nastavnike koji primjenjuju ovaj model te osiguravanje edukacija i usavršavanja za nastavnike vezano uz integraciju i primjenu modela.
Abstract (english) The overall purpose of this research was to contribute to the existing knowledge of the service-learning in the national higher education area, with the help of the experience of university teachers who are working with this model. Service-learning is a model of experiential learning based on the integration of curricula and active engagement of students in the community with a goal of their better understanding of the content of the course and the needs and problems of the community as a stimulus for their continued civic efforts. Although there are a lot of universities all around the world which are in the last forty years striving towards integration of academic activities and local communities and which are systematically developing and promoting service-learning, the application of this methodology in Croatia is still in its infancy. However, in recent years the situation is improving and more and more teachers are including service-learning methodology within their fields of work.
In this research qualitative approach was used and the main method of data collection was phenomenological semi-structured interview. A total of 7 interviews with university teachers who are working with the service-learning methodology were conducted. All of the research participants were women, between the ages of 33 and 46, and have between 6 and 13 years of experience in implementing service-learning methodology. Research participants come from a total of three universities in Croatia and deal with various disciplines within the social sciences. Analysis of the collected data had shown that the experience of university teachers applying service-learning methodology in Croatia is generally positive, but some of the challenges they face are the lack of institutional support for model integration and implementation, lack of understanding of the methodology by leading people at institutions, colleagues and students and lack of student motivation to enroll in the service-learning courses. Some of the proposals for advancement of service-learning methodology in the Croatian higher education context are the institutionalization of service-learning methodology, the promotion of this methodology among university teachers, students and community partners, providing a system of evaluation for teachers who are applying this methodology and providing education and training for teachers related to integration and application of the service-learning methodology.
