Abstract
Distopija se kao književni žanr u svjetskoj književnosti izraženije pojavljuje sredinom 20. stoljeća, čemu je pogodovao društveno-povijesni kontekst, tj. pojava totalitarnih režima. Bitna karakteristika distopijskih društava njihova je nemogućnost promjene zbog raznih oblika dehumanizacije i kontrole koje na njih vrši vladajuća manjina. U ovome smo radu pokušali pokazati mehanizme kojima totalitarni režimi održavaju svoju moć, s naglaskom na kontrolu emocija kod potlačenog stanovništva. Analizom društvenih uređenja u trima distopijskim romanima – Vrli novi svijet Aldousa Huxleyja, 1984. Georgea Orwella i Planet Friedman Josipa Mlakića – kao jedan od najvažnijih mehanizama pokazala se dehumanizacija, čijim elementima smo i posvetili najviše pažnje u našoj analizi.
Abstract (english)
Dystopia as a literary genre in world literature appears in the middle of the 20th century, which was favored by the socio-historical context, ie the emergence of totalitarian regimes. An important characteristic of dystopian societies is their inability to change due to various forms of dehumanization and societal control of the ruling minority. In this thesis, we tried to show the mechanisms by which totalitarian regimes maintained their power, with an emphasis on the control of emotions in the oppressed population. The analysis of social arrangements in three dystopian novels – The Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, 1984 by George Orwell and Planet Friedman by Josip Mlakić – showed that one of the most important mechanisms is a dehuhumanization, whose elements we paid the most attention to in our analysis.
