Abstract (english) The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between motives for dominance and prestige and the adoption of other person's spatial perspective, as well as to explore the moderating influence of the nonverbal display of dominance by the other person on this relationship. It was expected that individuals with a stronger motive for prestige, as well as those with a weaker motive for dominance, would adopt the perspective of the other person to a greater extent. Additionally, it was expected that the dominance of the model would have a moderating effect, such that individuals less motivated by dominance and prestige would adopt the perspective of dominant models to a greater extent compared to submissive models. The study included 460 participants, 319 women and 141 men, aged 18 to 34 years. The study was conducted online, using a perspective-taking paradigm designed by Tversky and Hard (2009), in which participants viewed a photograph of a model standing in front of a table with two objects and were asked to describe the location of the objects on the table. The dependent variable was the perspective that the participants took while explaining the location and it was either their own perspective or the perspective of the model in the photograph. The dominance of the model in the photograph was manipulated through a dominant or submissive body posture. Additionally, motives for dominance and prestige were measured using the Dominance, Prestige, and Leadership (DoPL) scale translated into Croatian. The majority of participants responded from their own perspective (80.4 %), while only a small portion adopted the model's perspective (19.6 %). The results showed no effects of motives for dominance and prestige on the adoption of the model's spatial perspective, nor a moderating effect of the nonverbal expression of dominance by the model. Given that the results differ from the expected ones, it is necessary to consider all potential limitations of the conducted research during their interpretation. In conclusion, further research is needed to implement various methods for assessing dominance and prestige, and ways for measuring perspective-taking, as well as to include control of potential moderators in order to clarify the relationship between power and perspective-taking.
