Continuous professional development is very important for teachers because in that way he can improve his competences, maintain the better quality of the teaching and to make progress in his career. Teachers are a very important factor of the development and achievement of the student. One of the models of professional development are Huberman's model of career development in whom by stages is observed teachers joining in the professional community and teachers' autonomy development. Berliner's model of expert development is based on observing the changes of teachers' competitions. In ISSA definition of quality teaching practice is also included teacher's professional development. Teachers continuously watch their own professional and personal development, they make reflections of their own professional work and work ehty their colleagues. In that way they represet the meaning of lifelong learning because it is very important for teacher's profession in the way the teachers can lead students and give each of them the best support for learning and development. The teacher improve the quality of his professional work in the way he actively participate in work, takes care of partnership with others and criticaly reflexing of various situations. It is not enough to explore for new ideas and facts, but furthermore to know how that show in the class and put in the practice. Professional development is not just learning new informations and thinkings, but also new methods of teaching new things and skills. A teacher's portfolio can help in observation of teacher's development. In that portfolio teachers writes and keep his works, but also descriptions of his thinkings, remarks, evidences of teacher's practice. Portfolio can bi very usefull to the teacher who writes it, but also for other teachers who can read it beacuse in that way they can learn different ideas and experiences with whom can also learn and build theirs own professional identity. The teacher's profession require a lot od work, effort and continuous development and that is a teacher's duty.
