In the late 1980s and the1990s, there has been a prominent activation of religious tradition, religious culture and religious symbolism content for political causes in this region. Specific conditions have enabled the Church to take a certain position and gain influence in the Croatian society. This paper researched just that, the extent of the influence the Catholic Church has in society’s political space during election campaigns and whether there are elements of politicization in its daily press appearances. The sample consisted of two daily newspapers - Večernji list and Slobodna Dalmacija. The content analysis encompassed three election campaign cycles in the years - 2007., 2011., and 2015. The obtained results have confirmed the set hypothesis about the activity of Catholic representatives in the daily press space, more so during the first election cycle and in the publications of Večernji list. The hypothesis about the significant number of published articles is partially confirmed, but the one concerning the presence of religious symbolism, both from the Church and political parties, has been confirmed since typical phrases have been detected during all cycles and in both newspapers. Since there is a significant difference in the value representation of phrases typical for the conservative and liberal aspects in the chosen papers, a polarization of value stances and their social implementation can be seen.
