In this paper is explained the notion of talent and talent development throughout history and interpretations of that notion by many authors. Talent interprets in numerous ways and each author has a specific definition, but most of them agree that talented children are at the forefront of cognitive development in front of their peers, they progress faster and have higher abilities in one or more areas of action. They are also mentioned some features of gifted children and the importance of identifying gifted child at an early age, so that even in preschool and school age we encourage the development of his interest. Paper is primarily focused on issues of emotionality and emotional development of gifted children. The concept of emotions and emotional development is generally explained, as an introduction to the topic of emotional development of gifted child. Gifted children are emotionally more sensitive than other children because of their particular features so they need special support, primarily from their parents and family. They are perfectionist and idealists which is why they often have problemsin peer relationships, so they choose a society of their own. Except from family, gifted need support and understanding from their school teachers, and to a large extent from the social environment. A large number of research studies on gifted and their features were conducted, and some of the reviewed research studies presented in this paper were concerned with their social and emotional particularities. The goal of these research studies was to raise awareness of this phenomenon for insight into his low knowledge by society.
