Abstract
Ovaj diplomski rad sastoji se od teoretskog i praktičnog djela. U prvom dijelu rada govori se o Shakespeareovu životu i stvaralaštvu te djelu Macbeth. Spominje se također recepcija Shakespearea u Hrvatskoj te prve prerade i prijevodi njegovih djela. U nastavku se govori o književnoumjetničkom stilu te se definira metafora. Pojašnjena je teorija prevođenja i kontrastivna analiza, te se objašnjava metodologija praktičnog dijela rada. Drugi dio rada čini analiza metafora iz prva dva čina Macbetha. U originalnom tekstu istaknute su metafore te se analizira njihov ostvaraj kod trojice hrvatskih prevoditelja: Josipa Torbarine, Vladimira Nazora i Mate Marasa. U analizi je naglasak na pitanjima je li metafora zadržana, izgubljena ili izmijenjena. Analiza je pokazala da je metaforičnost najbolje zadržana kod Marasa, potom kod Torbarine, a najmanje kod Nazora koji metaforu ponekad gubi a ponekad i zamjenjuje drugačijim izrazom. Svi prevoditelji ostvarili su uspjele prijevode drame Macbeth, prigodne za svoje vrijeme i čitateljsku publiku.
Abstract (english)
This graduate thesis consists of a theoretical and practical part. In the first part of the thesis, the author discusses Shakespeare's life and creation and tragedy Macbeth. Reception of Shakespeare in Croatia is also mentioned, as well as first translations of his works. Following part concentrates on literary style and metaphor. Also, translation theory and contrastive analysis are explained, as the methodology of the practical part. The second part of the work involves the analysis of the metaphor in the first two acts of Macbeth. Metaphors are highlighted in the original text and then compared with three Croatian translations – that of Vladimir Nazor, Josip Torbarina and Mate Maras. The analysis focuses on whether the metaphor is retained, lost or altered. The analysis has shown that metaphors are best retained in Maras' translation, then in Torbarina's, and the least in Nazor's translation, where metaphors are sometimes lost or replaced with a different expression. All three translators have made successful translations of Macbeth, suitable for the period of its emergence and corresponding reader audience
