Abstract
This thesis makes a comparison between poetic devices of Shakespeare’s commedy Much Ado About Nothing and Kenneth Branagh’s film adaptation of it which among specific stylistic techniques incorporates deconstructed feminist film theory on the matter of gender convergence. The term ‘deconstructed’ refers to the introduction of intellectual fetishisation of woman, the presence of female gaze whether independently or alongside male one as well as female characters being perceived as actively participating in the dissolution of patriarchal society. It will also be demonstrated how the latter reaches its self-destruction through the acts of male characters. The analysis shows that gender metamorphosis is only possible when men and women perceives it as a means of connecting them rather than separating them further.
Abstract (english)
Ova teza vrši usporedbu između Shakespeareovih pjesničkih sredstava u komediji ‘Mnogo vike ni za što’ i Keeneth Branaghove filmske adaptacije iste koja pored specifičnih stilskih tehnika uključuje i dekonstruiranu feminističku filmsku teoriju u pogledu rodnog usklađivanja. Pojam ‘dekonstruiran’ je povezan sa uvođenjem intelektualne fetišizacije žene, prisutnošću ženskog pogleda, bilo da je isti prikazan samostalno ili zajedno sa muškim kao i sa ženskim likovima koji se smatraju aktivnim sudionicima u raspuštanju patrijarhalnog drušva. Također će biti prikazano kako potonji dostiže samouništenje kroz sama djela muških likova. Analiza pokazuje kako je rodna preobrazba jedino moguća kada je muškarac i žena percepiraju kao način njhovog međusobnog zbližavanja radije negoli kao sredstvo koje ih još više razdvaja.
