Entrepreneurship is increasingly present in the business context of young people through the startup as a new organizational model. The entrepreneur is an innovator who strives to achieve his/her goals, through the daily change of business approach, ideas and products. The entrepreneurial venture involves elements important for business operations, and encompasses human resources, financial capital and technology. Entrepreneurship is based on reliable information, but above all on the readiness of a person to enter a business risk. The qualitative method of semi-structured interview was applied in our research. The sample included six participants, i.e. the founders of startups operating in the wider area of the city of Split. The research problem is the startup as a (non) sustainable organization, along with the recongnition of the elements necessary for effective functioning. Participants believe that a certain financial autonomy is desirable for the establishment of start ups, combined with a high level of innovation and competitive attitude. A quality strategic plan and successful adaptation to changing circumstances are necessary for the survival and advancement of enterprise activities, in the social context burdened with the massive bureaucratic apparatus and an anti - entrepreneurial mentality. Continuous and diverse education is an important tool for improving employee competencies, overcoming obstacles and achieving competitiveness.
