The paper analyzes the socio-demographic and socio-economic characteristics of Split students. Also, experiences and attitudes about the problem of finding student accommodation in the city of Split are researched. Finally, their satisfaction with the quality of life in student dormitories and private accommodation is analyzed. The survey was conducted during July 2021 using an online survey method based on an online questionnaire of 20 mostly closed-ended questions. The sample included 460 respondents, ie. students of the University of Split, whose residence is outside Split. The sample was stratified according to the available socio-demographic characteristics of the students based on the data of the Student Center. We approached the respondents through social networks. According to the results of the research, most of the respondents who use the dormitory do so solely because of their lower socio-economic status. Then, more than a quarter of respondents did not experience subsidies for private accommodation, and most of them met at least once with a request to leave accommodation during the summer exam period. Also, the results indicated their dissatisfaction with the price of private accommodation in Split, but they are satisfied with their own student accommodation. While there is no significant difference by gender when it comes to the fact that student dormitories are not sufficiently equipped for a quality student life, which is unexpected.
