Abstract
Empatija je kao pojam posljednjih godina često analiziran i istraživan. Iako se češće koristi u psihologiji, empatija ima veliki značaj u književnosti, stvaranju književnih djela, a kasnije i odjeka u čitateljskoj publici. U ovom završnom radu bit će prikazan razvoj empatije u književnom opusu Elif Shafak, koja je jedna od najutjecajnijih suvremenih književnica. Njezin književni opus osvrće se na aktualne događaje, a popraćeni su velikom količinom suosjećanja i empatije. Prvi dio rada teorijski se odnosi na koncept empatije, dok ostatak rada prati njezin razvoj kroz analizirana književna djela
Abstract (english)
The concept of Empathy as a concept has been frequently analyzed and researched in recent years. Although more commonly used in psychology, empathy has great importance in literature, in the creation of literary works, and later in the readers’ reception. This (final) paper will present the development of empathy in the literary works of Elif Shafak, one of the most influential contemporary writers. Her literary work deals with current events (that are) accompanied by a large amount of compassion and empathy. The first part of the paper (theoretically) refers to the concept of empathy, while the rest of the paper follows its development through the analyzed (Elif Shafak’s) literary works.
