Abstract
U ovom se radu proučavaju društvene prilike u Splitu na prijelazu iz 19. u 20. stoljeće. Istraživanje se provodilo na osnovi lista Narod koji je od 1884. do 1894. godine izlazio u Splitu kao političko glasilo splitskih pristaša Narodne stranke. Istraživanjem su obuhvaćene političke prilike i odnosi između narodnjaka i autonomaša, stanovništvo Splita, komunalne prilike, školstvo, zdravstvo, redarstvo, crkvene prilike, karitativna i humanitarna djelatnost, gradska društva te društveni život. Pokazalo se da je u Splitu u promatranom razdoblju došlo do napretka na društvenom planu u svim promotrenim aspektima.
Abstract (english)
The main thesis of this paper are social conditions during the turn from the 19th century to the 20th century. The main source for the research were the newspapers Narod (1884. ̶ 1894.) which was political organ of Split's Nationalist Party. The research included the political situation and relations between Anexionists and Autonomists, population of Split, municipal circumstances, education, health, police, chruch, charitable and humanitarian activites, groups and social life. Resulsts have shown progress of social life in Split at the end of the 19th century. Key
