Abstract
Teorija uma je kognitivni mehanizam koji omogućuje pripisivanje mentalnih stanja sebi i drugima, te korištenje tih informacija kod predviđanja i objašnjavanja ponašanja. Pravilan razvoj teorije uma iznimno je bitan kako bi pojedinac mogao adekvatno sudjelovati u svakodnevnim socijalnim interakcijama. Predispozicije za razvoj teorije uma razvijaju se još u početku predoperacijskog razdoblja, a razvoj teorije uma nastavlja se tijekom odrastanja. Različite teškoće u razvoju rezultiraju usporenim razvojem teorije uma, a ranom intervencijom moguće je raditi s djecom pomoću različitih zadataka kako bi se razvilo bolje razumijevanje mentalnih stanja. U radu su opisani najčešći pristupi procjeni teorije uma i metode pomoću kojih se ona ispituje u dojenačkoj i predškolskoj dobi. U zaključku rada istaknuta je važnost razvoja teorije uma kao i ranog dijagnosticiranja poteškoća u njezinu razvoju.
Abstract (english)
Theory of mind is a cognitive mechanism that enables the attribution of mental states to oneself and others, and the use of this information in predicting and explaining behavior. The proper development of theory of mind is extremely important in order for an individual to be able to adequately participate in everyday social interactions. Predispositions for the development of theory of mind develop at the beginning of the preoperational period, and the development of theory of mind continues while growing up. Various developmental disabilities result in delayed development of theory of mind, and with early intervention it is possible to work with children using various tasks to develop a better understanding of mental states. The paper describes the most common approaches to the assessment of theory of mind and the methods by which it is tested in infancy and preschool age. In the conclusion of the paper, the importance of developing theory of mind as well as early diagnosis of difficulties in its development is highlighted.
