The use of information and communications technology (ICT) is essential in modern education in order to improve the learning and teaching process. One of the most popular online learning systems used in primary schools is Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (Moodle). Moodle collects large amounts of user data and that process is called learning analytics. Learning analytics refers to measuring, collecting, analyzing and reporting user data used to understand and improve the learning and teaching process. The aim of this paper is to investigate whether students of the first grades of primary school can learn in the Moodle system and whether this way of learning suits them, and also to explore the role and importance of learning analytics in the Moodle system in order to improve educational experience and achieve better student outcomes. With this in mind, this paper is divided into two parts. The first part describes the process of designing the teaching content in the Moodle system, while the second part describes the results obtained from the analysis of the designed teaching content and the survey questionnaire. The results show that learning in the Moodle system can be good for students of the first grades of primary schools if we know very well the student's needs and abilities and that learning analytics in the Moodle system is a powerful tool that supports teachers and students in their learning and teaching process. Integration of learning analytics into the education system can have a positive impact on improving the quality of teaching, individualizing learning, and thus achieving better learning outcomes.
