The subject of this paper is the presentation of events in Split during the First world war. At the beginning of the paper, the political context before the war is given. Afterwards, information is provided about the most important sources for this paper, the newspapers of Split during the war. In the next chapter, the paper focuses at the cause of the war, the assassination in Sarajevo and the reaction of citizens of Split to the happening in Sarajevo. Following that, paper shows the initial war enthusiasm and the first mobilization for the army. After that paper focuses on the citizens of Split in the Austro-Hungarian army, and their doings on the Europe battlefronts. Subsequently, the structure of the Kingdom of Dalmatia is described and a brief description of the most important officials is given. Also described are the public health conditions and the events during the Spanish flu. In the final part of the political and city events, events at the end of the war, manifestations and the welcoming of the Serbian army are reported. In the next chapter, the work switches to provisioning opportunities, i.e. difficulties. All the attempts and shortcomings of food and provision supply are marked out. In the last chapters of the paper, humanitarian, school, church and cultural opportunities are portrayed.
