Abstract
U ovom radu istražuje se problem zla kod tri važna filozofa: sv. Toma Akvinskog, Gottfrieda Wilhelma Leibniza i Davida Humea. Filozofi pristupaju ovoj temi s različitim filozofskim perspektivama i teološkim uvjerenjima. Sv. Toma Akvinski, srednjovjekovni teolog, razmatra zlo kao nedostatak dobra i tvrdi da moralno zlo proizlazi iz slobodne volje ljudi. Gottfried Leibniz, u svojoj „Teodiceji“, pokušava pomiriti postojanje Boga s prisutnošću zla tvrdeći da živimo u najboljem mogućem svijetu gdje zlo ima svoje mjesto u harmoničnom planu. David Hume, skeptik, izaziva konvencionalne teističke postavke o prirodi Boga, postavljajući pitanja o ljudskoj patnji i ograničenjima ljudskog uma. Kroz analizu njihovih djela, ovaj rad nastoji prikazati raznolikost pristupa problemu zla u filozofiji, čime doprinose širem razumijevanju božanske pravednosti i ljudske patnje u svijetu.
Abstract (english)
In this paper, the problem of evil is explored through the perspectives of three significant philosophers: St. Thomas Aquinas, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, and David Hume. These philosophers approach the topic with diverse philosophical perspectives and theological beliefs. St. Thomas Aquinas, a medieval theologian, considers evil as a deficiency of good and argues that it arises from the free will of humans. Leibniz, in his "Theodicy," attempts to reconcile the existence of God with the presence of evil by asserting that we live in the best of all possible worlds where evil has its place in a harmonious plan. Hume, a skeptic, challenges conventional theistic notions about the nature of God, posing questions about human suffering and the limitations of the human mind. Through the analysis of their works, this paper seeks to illustrate the diversity of approaches to the problem of evil in philosophy, contributing to a broader understanding of divine justice and human suffering in the world.
