In this thesis, the traditional chants of Cetinska krajina are discussed. The introductory part of the paper describes what multiculturalism and interculturalism are and why it is important for a teacher to possess multicultural and intercultural competences. Today, we live in a multicultural society and it is important to teach children from an early age to respect their own culture as well as culture of others. An intercultural approach in education is crucial in order to achieve these goals. In the continuation of the paper, traditional music is described and what types of traditional music exist. It is shown why traditional music is important in the teaching of Musical Culture and how the traditional music of Cetinska krajina can be applied in the teaching of Musical Culture. The importance of nurturing traditions was emphasized so that new generations would know the customs of their ancestors and so that these customs would not be lost, but would continue to be passed on from generation to generation. Until now, the tunes of the Cetinska krajina have been passed down orally from generation to generation, but as the way of life has changed, these tunes are no longer transmitted and are slowly being forgotten. In this paper, the mentioned tunes are written down so that this part of the musical heritage of small towns in the Cetinska krajina is not lost.
