Abstract Razvoj interneta i tehnologije utjecao je na način informiranja i komunikaciju ljudi u svakodnevnom životu. Druga istraživačka metoda primijenjena u ovom istraživanju je strukturirani intervju, kojim smo željeli ispitati stavove i mišljenja građana grada Korčule o ulozi i značenju web stranica u kulturnom razvoju grada.
Abstract (english) The development of the Internet and technology has influenced the way of informing and communication of people in their everyday lives. The flow of information has become faster and more far-reaching, and the roles that the media plays in the society are different. Given that the World Wide Web is the fastest growing part of the Internet, websites have become media space accessible to everyone, in which it is possible to easily conceive arbitrary media content. For this research project we have decided to analyze the selected websites of the city of Korčula. The aim was to examine to which extent are certain websites equipped with information about the cultural offer of the city and how citizens can use the available information. Content analysis was carried out through October and November 2016, and included five websites of the city of Korčula, which are most relevant to the theme and to the objective of the research: korcula.net, korcula.hr, ikorculainfo.com, kulturakorcula.hr and visitkorcula.eu. For the purpose of collecting data using content analysis, we have developed a system of categories, which consists of three main categories: website elements, content aspects and user interactivity. Another research method applied in this study is a structured interview, with which we wanted to examine the views and opinions of the citizens of the city of Korčula on the role and meaning of web pages in the cultural development of the city. The study included 77 people aged 20 to 59 years, and interviews were placed in October and November 2016. The study examined the satisfaction of citizens with websites, their activity on them, and their cultural needs and habits. Content analysis has shown that the websites of the city of Korčula mainly follow certain guidelines in their design, although their visual identity is somewhat old-fashioned. All websites have the main elements, while some recent trends in web design are followed by few websites, such as visitkorcula.eu and ikorculainfo.com, which are primarily intended for tourists. Website content is often scarce and arbitrarily updated. Interviews have shown partial satisfaction of citizens with the amount of information on websites and updating frequency, although most of them visit those websites rarely or never. They are also partly satisfied with the cultural offer of the city and they sometimes participate in cultural events, but it is considered that Korčula has a great cultural potential to be utilized in the right ways.
