Abstract
Die vorliegende Studie analysiert die Sprachpolitik am Beispiel der burgenlandkroatischen Volksgruppe und ihrer Sprache in Österreich. Dabei werden zunächst einige allgemeine Merkmale der burgenlandkroatischen Sprache erläutert und der theoretische Rahmen der Sprachpolitik dargelegt. Im Fokus der Analyse steht die Darstellung der diachronisch-synchronischen sprachpolitischen Lage der burgenlandkroatischen Sprache sowie die Umsetzung der Sprachpolitik auf allen gesellschaftlichen Ebenen. Es wird gezeigt, dass die Vitalität der burgenlandkroatischen Sprache historisch von verschiedenen sprachlichen und außersprachlichen Faktoren überwiegend negativ beeinflusst wurde. Des Weiteren wird verdeutlicht, dass trotz der Standardisierung der Sprache oft eine effektive Implementierung und Förderung dieser Standardsprache in der Gesellschaft fehlt. Trotz einiger neuer positiver Entwicklungen bleibt die Zukunft des Burgenlandkroatischen ungewiss.
Abstract (english)
This study examines language policy using the example of the Burgenland Croatian ethnic group and its language in Austria. Initially, it elucidates certain general characteristics of the Burgenland Croatian language and presents the theoretical framework of language policy. The analysis focuses on portraying the diachronic-synchronic language policy situation of Burgenland Croatian and the implementation of language policy across all societal levels. It is demonstrated that historically, the vitality of Burgenland Croatian has been predominantly negatively influenced by various linguistic and extralinguistic factors. Moreover, this work highlights that despite the standardization of the language, there is often a lack of effective implementation and promotion of this standardized language within society. Despite recent positive developments, the future of Burgenland Croatian remains uncertain.

Ovaj rad istražuje jezičnu politiku koristeći primjer gradišćanskih Hrvata i njihovog jezika u Austriji. Na početku se prikazuju određene opće karakteristike gradišćanskohrvatskoga jezika i predstavlja se teorijski okvir jezične politike. Analiza se usredotočuje na prikazivanje dijakronijske i sinkronijske jezične politike gradišćanskohrvatskoga jezika te implementaciju jezične politike na svim društvenim razinama. Rad pokazuje da su različiti jezični i izvanjezični čimbenici povijesno gledano uglavnom negativno utjecali na vitalnost gradišćanskohrvatskoga jezika. Nadalje, ovaj rad ističe da unatoč standardizaciji jezika, često nedostaje učinkovita implementacija i promidžba tog standarda unutar društva. Unatoč nekim nedavnim pozitivnim razvojima, budućnost gradišćanskohrvatskog jezika ostaje neizvjesna.
