Abstract Det här examensarbetet kommer att utforska kvinnliga karaktärer i Ingmar Bergmans filmer och betydelsen av deras utveckling. Majoriteten av hans mest framstående och minnesvärda karaktärer är kvinnor, och Bergmans skildring av dem kännetecknas av deras djup och komplexitet. Dessa kvinnor är inte bara passiva objekt som ska se vackra ut, utan de lever sina egna komplexa liv och hanterar dagliga kamper som ofta driver handlingen framåt. Många av Bergmans filmer är psykologiska dramer där relationerna mellan män och kvinnor fungerar som katalysatorer för både konflikt och introspektion hos de kvinnliga karaktärerna.
Det handlar inte bara om ytliga relationer mellan två personer, utan om djupare kopplingar och sanningar om människan. Dessa sanningar är ofta kopplade till andligt uppvaknande, vilket illustreras genom symbolik och allegorier i Bergmans verk. Bergmans framställning av kvinnor är också en kritik av traditionella könsnormer och samhällets förväntningar på kvinnor. Hans kvinnliga karaktärer bryter ofta mot konventionella patriarkala regler och auktoriteter.
Detta examensarbete kommer först att ge en översikt över Ingmar Bergmans filmer i allmänhet och diskutera de kvinnliga karaktärerna i hans verk. Därefter kommer en psykologisk analys av specifika kvinnliga karaktärer i filmerna Tystnaden, Persona och Viskningar och rop.
Abstract (english) This thesis examines the depiction and significance of female characters in Ingmar Bergman's films. Women predominantly stand out as the most important and memorable characters in his body of work. Bergman's portrayal of women is marked by their profound depth and complexity. They are not merely passive figures intended for aesthetic appeal but are depicted as living intricate lives with enduring struggles that they face daily. These struggles often serve as a driving force for the narrative, as his films generally delve into psychological themes. The dynamics between men and women in Bergman’s films not only trigger conflict but also prompt introspection for the female characters. The focus often transcends superficial interactions between individuals, exploring deeper connections and truths about the characters themselves. These truths frequently involve spiritual awakenings, highlighted through the use of symbolism and allegory in his films.
Bergman's portrayal of women serves as a critique of traditional gender norms and societal expectations imposed on women. His female characters frequently challenge conventional patriarchal rules and authority.
This thesis will first provide an overview of Ingmar Bergman's films, discussing his portrayal of women in his works. It will then conduct an in-depth psychological analysis of specific female characters in The Silence, Persona, and Cries and Whispers. The thesis will conclude with a synthesis of the findings.
Abstract (croatian) U ovom završnom radu istraženi su ženski likovi u filmovima Ingmara Bergmana. Prati se redateljev odnos prema ženama, koje unatoč svojim različitim karakterima, prikazuje kao složene i trodimenzionalne likove, koji nisu samo pasivni subjekti koji žele izgledati lijepo, već žive svoje kompleksne živote te svakodnevno vode unutarnje borbe sa sobom. Upravo se te borbe često koriste kao način da se unaprijedi radnja, budući da se u većini Bergmanovih filmova uglavnom radi o psihološkoj analiza likova. Odnosi između muškaraca i žena u Bergmanovim filmovima djeluju kao katalizator sukoba, ali i introspekcije žena. Često se ne radi o površinskim odnosima dvoje ljudi, već o dubljim, vrlo kompleksnim odnosima, punim simbolike i alegorije.
Bergmanov prikaz žena kritika je tradicionalnih normi spolova i protivi se svim očekivanjima koje društvo ima od žena. Poznato je da se njegovi ženski likovi protive pravilima konvencionalnog patrijarhata i autoriteta, što ga čini redateljem ispred svog vremena.
Uvod ovoga rada donosi općeniti prikaz Bergmanovih filmova te uvod u temu žena u njegovim filmovima, dok se rasprava odnosi na razradu ženskih likova te njihovu psihološku analizu u filmovima Tišina, Persona i Krici i šaputanja. Na kraju se donosi zaključak.
