Abstract
Živototvorstvo, ili izvorno žiznjetvorčestvo na ruskome jeziku, svakako je jedan od najzanimljivijih fenomena ruskoga prijelaza stoljeća – ono je u svojoj suštini brisanje granica među sferama života i umjetnosti, samostilizacija i estetizacija vlastita života kao da je ono umjetničko djelo, prakticirana od ruske kulturne elite. U radu se raščlanjuju uzroci potrebe za takvim eskapizmom. Fenomen se smješta u kontekst tadašnjeg društveno-kulturnog stanja: polazeći od političke situacije i promjena nastalih naglom industrijalizacijom, te ih nadograđujući utjecajem modernih umjetničko-intelektualnih strujanja. Razmatraju se već postojeći modeli samostilizacije, kao i prevladavajuće utjecajne filozofije, koji su mogli potaknuti interpretaciju vlastita života u umjetničkim kategorijama. Podcrtava se povezanost s europskim kulturnim razvojem te se pokazuje kako je ova specifična mreža impulsa dovela do promatranog fenomena.
Abstract (english)
Life-creation, or zhiznetvorchestvo in Russian, is certainly one of the most interesting phenomena of the Russian turn-of-the-century – in its essence, it is the erasure of boundaries between the life and art, self-fashioning and aestheticization of one's own life as if it were a work of art, practiced by the Russian cultural elite. In the thesis we analyze the causes of the need for such escapism. We contextualize it in the social and cultural situation of the time: starting from the political circumstances and changes caused by sudden industrialization and building on them with the influence of modern artistic currents. The existing models of self-stylization are obsereved, as well as the prevailing and influential philosophies, which could have encouraged the interpretation of one's own life in artistic categories. The connection with European cultural development is underlined, and with a series of examples it is shown how this specific network of impulses led to the observed phenomenon.

Жизнетворчество является одним из интереснейших явлений русского рубежа XIX и XX веков. По своей сути это стирание границ между жизнью и искусством: самосоздание и эстетизация собственной жизни как произведения искусства, практикуемые русской культурной элитой (действительно, почти весь круг символистов вел глубоко эстетизированную жизнь). Ключевой вопрос – что побудило так много людей попытаться организовать свою жизнь художественно? В этой работе произведен анализ причин потребности в таком эскапизме. Феномен помещен в контекст социальной и культурной ситуации того времени: начиная с политической ситуации и изменений, вызванных внезапной индустриализацией, и продолжая с влиянием современных художественных и интеллектуальных течений. Обсуждаются существующие модели самостилизации, а также преобладающие влиятельные философии, которые могли бы способствовать интерпретации собственной жизни в художественных категориях. Подчеркнута связь с европейским культурным развитием и показано, как эта специфическая сеть импульсов привела к наблюдаемому явлению.
