This thesis provides a theoretical overview of apraxia of speech. Apraxia is a neurological condition characterized by the inability to perform specific learned and familiar motor actions, movements, or gestures. The cause of apraxia is damage to the brain's cortex or deterioration of connections between brain regions responsible for storing motor memories. Apraxia of speech is a type of apraxia characterized by impaired precision and consistency of speech movements without neuromuscular damage. The aim of this work is to explain the causes, features, and treatment of apraxia based on relevant scientific and professional literature and to explore the most effective methods for improving communication abilities and daily functions. Although the condition is not curable, appropriate therapy can significantly enhance quality of life and enable better adaptation in daily activities. The importance of this topic lies in the fact that diagnosing speech apraxia can be challenging due to symptom overlap with other speech and language disorders, which can affect the accuracy and consistency of prevalence data. However, increasing awareness and improved diagnostic tools are aiding in the early detection and treatment of this disorder.
