Abstract
U distopijskoj književnosti česta su preklapanja s drugim žanrovima, posebice sa znanstvenom fantastikom što ponekad otežava jasno žanrovsko određenje distopije. Ovaj rad kratko će se osvrnuti na problem žanrovskoga određenja distopije, odrediti temeljne pojmove i analizirati ulogu koju je imala utopija na nastanak i razvoj distopijskih tekstova. Glavna okosnica rada je analiza i usporedba dvaju romana, Mi Jevgenija Zamjatina i Država Božja 2053. Ive Brešana, prilikom čega ćemo ustvrditi na koji način se grade distopijski svjetovi u tim romanima, kako se ostvaruje karakterizacija i odnosi među likovima te koja je njihova uloga u samoj radnji. Ukazat će se na njihove temeljne razlike – roman Mi nastaje u razdoblju avangarde dok Državu Božju 2053. možemo odrediti kao postmodernistički roman u kojemu se isprepleću elementi distopije, znanstvene fantastike i popularne književnosti, kao i na njihove sličnosti – oba romana prikazuju izrazito totalitaristička društva i ukazuju na potencijalne opasnosti takvoga društvenog uređenja.
Abstract (english)
Overlaps with other genres are common in dystopian literature. This is especially evident in the relationship between dystopia and science fiction, which makes it more difficult to provide a clear generic definition of dystopia. This paper will offer a brief overview of the problem of generic definition of dystopia, define the basic concepts, and analyze the role that utopia played in the emergence and development of dystopian texts. The central part presents the analysis and comparison of the two novels, We by Yevgeny Zamyatin and The State of God 2053 by Ivo Brešan, which will aim to establish how dystopian worlds are built in these novels, how characterization and relations between characters are formed and what role they play in the text itself. The analysis will emphasize both their fundamental differences – the novel We emerged in the avant-garde period while The State of God 2053 can be defined as a postmodernist novel in which elements of dystopia, science fiction and popular literature are intertwined, as well as their similarities – both novels depict distinctly totalitarian societies and point out the potential dangers of such a social order.
