History
Abstract
Portugalske kolonije u Africi bile su među posljednjim kolonijama koje su se uspjele izboriti za neovisnost. Brojne su francuske, belgijske i britanske kolonije do 60-ih god. 20. st. već bile neovisne, dok su Angola, Mozambik, Gvineja Bisau i Zelenortski otoci to postali tek 1975. godine. Dugogodišnje ratovanje na trima frontovima u Africi financijski je iscrpilo Portugal koji pregovore s oslobodilačkim pokretima započinje tek nakon pada diktature u travnju 1974. godine. Antikolonijalni ratovi koji su u bivšim portugalskim kolonijama započeli početkom 60-ih godina privukli su pozornost brojnih zemalja koje su u tim afričkim konfliktima tražile priliku za širenjem vlastitih utjecaja.
