Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder with deficits in social communication and social interaction and limited, repetitive patterns of behaviour, activities, and interests. People with autism possess a deficit theory of mind and combined attention. A large number of children with autism develop speech quite late and 1/5 of them never develop it or manage to use only a minimum of usable speech. Communication skills disorder also exists in people with autism who are considered verbal, and the area they have the most problems with is pragmatics. Their communicative action involves more isolated gestural acts and fewer gestures combined with vocalisation. The inability to imitate speech and gesture is reported, as well as grabbing another person's hand and bringing it to a certain object. The severity of autism symptoms correlates with motor skills. The nonverbal aspect of communication is the main basis of speech. It also manages to facilitate or even enable professionals to establish valid communication with the child. The Augmentative and Alternative Communication System complements the lack of natural communication skills of children with communication deficits. Visual-graphic systems belong to the group of the most widespread and most popular non-technological aids in rehabilitation. The most common image-based system is PECS. Graphic symbols can also be organised in communication books and in the methodological part of this paper I suggest my example. The purpose of the whole methodical procedure and aids that I propose is primarily the development of speech communication.
