The video game industry is about sixty years old and has become part of the culture, and with the entry of video games into the museum space in recent decades, or their institutionalization, their growing cultural and heritage value has been emphasized. The value of video games as originally digital artifacts can be viewed from multiple angles. Video games can be part of the artistic heritage, especially considering their design, and can be an example of technological development of society, as well as socio-cultural practice, especially in the context of digital, intangible cultural heritage that should be preserved as such. The aim of this thesis is to look at games from a heritage perspective and problematize their protection and presentation with all the problematic aspects that museological functions imply. The ways in which video game culture is interpreted and the role of interactivity within exhibitions that problematize this type of digital heritage were explored. The reasons for the need to think about preserving digital heritage in modern times were also considered, but the existing legal barriers in terms of copyright protection must be considered if digital heritage is to be protected.
