Abstract
Engleski jezik imao je kroz povijest jak utjecaj na različita područja švedskog jezika. Od početka preuzimanja engleskih riječi u 18. stoljeću, prisutnost engleskog u švedskom je bivala sve snažnija, dok se razdoblje od 50-ih godina 20. stoljeća do danas može smatrati periodom najsnažnijeg utjecaja zbog najvećeg broja posuđenica. Švedski ponajviše preuzima pojmove iz domena tehnologije, znanosti i popularne kulture, u kojima posuđenice iz engleskog jezika popunjavaju leksičke praznine. One se također na razne načine prilagođavaju švedskom jezičnom sustavu, a sistematizaciju prilagodbe novih oblika omogućile su brojne analize. Neki utjecaj engleskog jezika smatraju prijetnjom, a neki dijelom jezične promjene, no svi se slažu o njegovoj integralnoj poziciji u švedskom društvu te globalizaciji Švedske. Uz prebacivanje kodova, i strah o gubitku domena zbog sve veće upotrebe engleskog jezika u akademskoj zajednici, jedan je od glavnih je predmeta rasprave onih koji su odgovorni za jezično planiranje. Izvorni govornici ipak imaju pozitivan stav prema engleskom i ne vide ga kao prijetnju švedskom jeziku.
Abstract (english)
The English language has had a long-lasting influence on Swedish in various domains. From the 18th century onwards, its influence has grown increasingly stronger, with the time from the 1950s up until now providing the greatest proportion of English loan words used today. Swedish has largely taken over terms for developments in technology, science and popular culture. The language; therefore, has a large number of loan words that fill lexical gaps and find different forms of adaptation to Swedish which have been thoroughly studied and analyzed. While some consider it a threat to Swedish, others see it as an aspect of language change, there is a general agreement that English is integral to the Swedish society and the country’s globalization. Alongside code-switching, a fear of loss of domain stemming from the increasing use of English in the academic community is also a matter of discussion among those responsible for language planning. Native Swedish speakers; however, have an accepting attitude towards English and do not perceive it as a threat.
