Abstract
Cilj ovog rada bio je razraditi koncept ”kvadrata” u sklopu filma Rubena Östlunda Kvadrat, upravo radi povećeg prostora za njegovu interpretaciju. Na početku rada spomenute su određene karakteristike Östlundova filma jer su bitan element u općem dojmu koji njegovi filmovi ostavljaju za sobom na gledatelje. Upravo je svojim filmskim tehnikama i temama koje u svojim filmovima obrađuje otvorio kritičarima mogućnost neiscrpne analize. U prvom sam se dijelu rada fokusirala na opis onoga što bi ”kvadrat” mogao biti, kao i na utopijski dio ideje koju u sebi nosi. Drugi se pak dio odnosi na neizbježnu raspravu o problematici koju ideja ”kvadrata” uz sebe veže. Upravo taj problematski dio koncepta nosi oštru kritiku suvremenog društva, upozoravajući na njegove ključne manjkavosti. U biti, film sugerira da suvremenom društvu nedostaje istinska solidarnost, potrebna za izgradnjom zdravijeg i zaista jednakopravnog društva.
Abstract (english)
The aim of this paper was to elaborate the concept of “the square” in Ruben Östlund’s film The Square, precisely because of the great number of ways in which it can be interpreted. At the beginning of the paper, certain characteristics of Östlund's film are mentioned because they form an important part in the general impression that his films leave on viewers. With the film techniques and themes that he deals with in his films, he opened the possibility of inexhaustible analysis for critics. In the first part of the paper, I focused on the description of what “the square” could be, and the utopian part of the ideas it carries. The second part refers to the inevitable discussion about the issues that this same idea implies, but it is precisely the problematic part that carries critical messages for modern society and warns of its crucial shortcomings. In essence, the film suggests that modern society lacks the true solidarity needed to build a healthier and truly equal society.
