Abstract
Pojam suvremenih kostimiranih drama odnosi se na filmski žanr koji obilježava smještenost u određeno povijesno razdoblje koje je vjerno rekonstruirano kostimima i dekorom, a najčešće je u središtu radnje ljubavna pripovijest. Posljednjih se godina stječe dojam povećane produkcije kostimiranih drama koje tematiziraju ljubav između dvije žene. Rad analizira šest primjera filmova u ovom žanru, snimljenih u razdoblju između 2018. i 2021.: “Colette” (2018.), “The Favourite” (2018.), “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” (2019.), “Ammonite” (2020.), “The World to Come” (2021.) i “Benedetta” (2021.). Na odabranim se primjerima analizira na koji su način queer teme prezentirane i problematizirane u ovim filmovima. U obzir se uzima povijest filmskih kostimiranih drama općenito, kao i povijest filmova s lezbijskom tematikom, kako bi se identificirale neke zajedničke točke u njihovom stvaranju i kritičarskoj percepciji. Koristeći se pojmom nostalgije kako ga definiraju Svetlana Boym i Fredric Jameson, rad analizira korištenje nostalgije u ovim filmovima, kao i načine na koje se prošlost konzumira u suvremenim medijskim proizvodima. U načinima na koji kostimirane drame osuvremenjuju svoj povijesni subjekt i čine ga relevantnim za sadašnjost, vidljiv je utjecaj postfeminističkog senzibiliteta kako ga definira Rosalind Gill - prikazi, iako feminističkih namjera, ostaju mahom unutar heteronormativnih okvira i etabliranih dihotomija muško - žensko, dominantno - submisivno.
Abstract (english)
The notion of contemporary costume dramas refers to a film genre set in a certain historical period faithfully reconstructed with costumes and decor, with a love story as the most common focus of the narrative. In recent years, there has been an impression of increased production of costume dramas thematizing love between two women. The paper analyzes six examples of films in this genre, made between 2018 and 2021: “Colette” (2018), “The Favourite” (2018), “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” (2019), “Ammonite” (2020), “The World to Come” (2021) and “Benedetta” (2021). Using these examples, the paper analyzes the way in which queer themes are presented and problematized in these films. The history of costume film dramas in general, as well as the history of lesbian-themed films, is taken into account in order to identify some common points in their creation and critical perception. Using the notion of nostalgia as defined by Svetlana Boym and Fredric Jameson, the paper analyzes the use of nostalgia in these films, as well as the ways in which the past is consumed in contemporary media products. In the ways in which costume dramas modernize their historical subject and make it relevant to the present, the influence of postfeminist sensibility as defined by Rosalind Gill is visible: feminist intentions remain largely within heteronormative frameworks and established male - female, dominant - submissive dichotomies.
