Abstract (english) The city of Zagreb, as one of the centers of the industrial revolution in the region, is full of monuments of the famous industrial period, both those of failed factories and those that are still operating today. However, modern industrial facilities are also being opened. Unfortunately, numerous objects of industrial heritage in Zagreb are in a dilapidated state, the reasons for this are different, from the passivity of their systematic categorization, complicated legal issues to the most important one, the failure to recognize industrial heritage as something worthy of preservation by the general public, but also by a some people form inside the profession, some of whom even oppose marking it as heritage. The way in which the awareness of industrial heritage can be strengthened is to present it in a new light that favors today's wishes and needs.
Over the past decade, the city of Zagreb has ceased to be just a place to rest for tourists who are on their way to a summer vacation on the Adriatic, and is becoming a tourist destination, which is why it is important to look at all the resources that can be used for tourist purposes. This work presents interesting and inspiring European industrial cultural-tourism attractions, which aims to point out the potential of different types of industrial heritage and different presentation options of the same, as models for those existing domestic projects that are industrial tourism products. Prominent European projects are located in Belgium and the United Kingdom, the main countries of the industrial revolution, such as the transport port of Antwerp or the canal elevator system in Wallonia and the Cadbury chocolate factories in Birmingham. Local examples represented in the paper are the projects of BugattiRimac and Zagreb Brewery, as well as the Croatian Railway Museum.
The aim of the work was to analyze the state of such projects in the Zagreb region in order to identify their potential as catalysts for the restoration and development of other valuable monuments of industrial heritage.
