Numerous studies confirm the importance and contribution of intimate relationship satisfaction in the daily functioning of an individual, while more and more studies focus on the influence of self-disclosure and responsiveness of the partner on intimate relationship satisfaction. The aim of this paper was to examine the relationships between the variables of self-disclosure, perceived responsiveness of the partner, dimensions of attachment, and perceived relationship quality, as well as gender differences in examined variables. An online questionnaire survey was conducted with a sample of 103 men and 206 women aged 18 to 35 that were in a romantic relationship. Participants completed the Revised Self-Disclosure Scale (Wheeless and Grotz, 1976), Modified Inventory of Experiences in Close Relationships (Kamenov and Jelić, 2003), Perceived Partner Responsiveness Scale (Reis and Carmichael, 2006), and Quality of Marriage Index (Norton, 1983). The results indicate that women are more inclined to self-disclosure than men, while no difference was noted in other variables. There was a positive correlation between measures of self-disclosure, relationship quality, and perceived partner responsiveness, as well as a positive correlation between attachment dimensions. A negative association of attachment dimensions (avoidant and anxious) with the variables of self-disclosure, perceived partner responsiveness, and relationship quality was also recorded. Hierarchical regression analysis shows that the variables of self-disclosure, perceived partner responsiveness, and the attachment dimensions significantly contribute to explaining 60% of the variance of intimate relationship satisfaction, with the perceived partner responsiveness independently explaining as much as 29% of the variance of intimate relationship satisfaction.
