This paper adresses several areas related to today's leading Internet streaming platform Netflix. To make it easier to understand the beginning describes how Netflix works as a platform and its recommendations. Recommendations are extremely interesting because they show how much dana Netflix uses to give its users the best possible recommendations and keep the in front of the screen for as long as possible. Netflix's ability to keep viewers in front of the screen has led to a phenomenon called binge watching, which is increasingly present among young people in today's society. Binge watching is just one of the many ways the Netflix effect works. The Netflix effect is a phenomenon in which Netflix has a huge impact, both on its users and sometimes on those who don't even use it. The popularity of the series has made chess far more popular than before and even helped chess players survive the pandemic easier. In this case, people connect with each other based on the viewed content. Equally interesting is the decline on the piracy of movies and TV series. It remains to be seen whether the cause is solely the greater comfort and pure ease of watching movies over Netflix, or part of that lies in the moral issue of downloading movies illegaly or simply in fear of getting caught. The traditional film industry itself is probably the most negatively affected by the changes that came with the rise of Netflix, and this has been evident for some time in the decline of the ticket sales. Netflix movies these days are not far behind Hollywood movies and often bring together equally impressive cast. The rest of the film industry is only left with the option of advancing as soon as possible or they future won't be as bright as it could be.
