Abstract
Ovaj se završni rad bavi odnosima prema finskom švedskom iz sociolingvističkog stajališta. Finski švedski je varijetet švedskog koji se stoljećima govori na području Finske, a od osamostaljenja Finske 1917. godine ima status drugog službenog jezika. Rad se između ostalim bavi i pitanjem kako funkcionira višejezičnost u finsko-švedskom kontekstu te kakva prava i mogućnosti imaju stanovnici Finske sa švedskim kao materinjim jezikom. Također se obrađuje i smanjivanje udjela švedskog stanovništva u Finskoj s obzirom na povijesne prilike te razlozi iseljavanja finskih Šveđana u Švedsku. U radu se može naći i podjela finskih županija s naglaskom na one dvojezične i jednojezične švedske. Rad obrađuje i pitanje finskog obrazovnog sustava te koje mogućnosti imaju oni kojima je švedski prvi, a možda i jedini jezik, s naglaskom na osnovnu školu i više obrazovanje. Također se daje i pregled istraživanja odnosa prema švedskom kao školskom predmetu.
Abstract (english)
This bachelor thesis deals with sociolinguistic attitudes towards Finland Swedish, a variety of Swedish spoken on Finnish ground for centuries now. Since Finland became independent in 1917, it has had the status of a second official language in the country. The thesis touches upon the matter of the functionality of multilingualism in the Finnish-Swedish context, as well as the rights granted to Finnish citizens whose mother tongue is Swedish. Another subject is the diminishing number of Swedes in Finland with regards to historical developments, including the causes behind the Finland Swedes moving back to Sweden. A division of Finnish regions according to the criterion of bilingual or Swedish monolingual regions. Finnish education system is also examined, with a look into the possibilities of those with Swedish as a first, and perhaps their only language, with special attention being paid to elementary and higher education. An overview of a research that deals with examining the attitudes towards Swedish as a school subject is also given.
