Abstract
Posljednjih godina umjetna inteligencija uslijed ubrzanog razvoja tehnologije nalazi svoju primjenu u raznim ljudskim djelatnostima. Cilj rada je predstaviti područje umjetne inteligencije (AI) u kontekstu strojnog prevođenja i ispitati dubinskom analizom stvarnu valjanost tako dobivenih prijevoda. Glavna hipoteza rada – da će ljudski prevoditelj, unatoč sve sofisticiranijoj tehnologiji za prevođenje, ostati nužan faktor za osiguranje kvalitete – potvrđena je. S obzirom na informativnost rezultata analize, predloženo je da se nastavi s istraživanjima dubinskog tipa kako bi se doznale specifične prednosti i slabosti prijevoda pojedinih AI potpomognutih sustava i sukladno tome procijenila razina pomoći koja se od njih može očekivati.
Abstract (english)
In recent years, following the accelerated technological development, artificial intelligence has found its use in various domains. The aim of the thesis is to present the field of artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of machine translation and, using an in-depth evaluation method, assess the actual quality of such generated translations. The thesis’ main hypothesis – that the human translator, despite the ever more sophisticated translation technology, will remain an indispensable quality assurance factor – was confirmed. In view of the informative character of the results, it is suggested that a similarly comprehensive approach be used in further research so as to obtain feedback on specific strengths and weaknesses pertaining to different AI-backed systems and estimate the expected level of their usefulness accordingly.
