Abstract
Proširena stvarnost je tehnologija koja se počela koristiti početkom 90-ih godina prošlog stoljeća, tada u vojnoj instituciji Zračnih snaga SAD-a. Sam termin „proširena stvarnost“ skovan je 1990. godine. Samim time, radi se o relativno novoj tehnologiji. U radu je prikazan njezin razvoj, razvoj hardvera i softvera koji je ključan za rad, širu dostupnost i mogućnosti proširene stvarnosti, kako je tehnologija postala šire dostupna, gdje se sve koristi, na koji način može olakšati svakodnevni život te koje su njene potencijalne opasnosti. Fokus je na aplikacijama i uslugama koje koriste proširenu stvarnost u širem, odnosno javno dostupnom prostoru. Samo neka od područja gdje se danas koristi proširena stvarnost su turizam, navigacija, računalne i mobilne igre, medicina, arheologija te obrazovanje. Također, prikazani su moderni projekti i upotreba proširene stvarnosti u baštinskim institucijama.
Abstract (english)
Augmented reality is a technology that was first used in the early 1990s at a U.S. Air Force military institution. The term "augmented reality" was coined in 1990. Therefore, it is a relatively new technology. The paper describes its development, the development of hardware and software that are essential for functioning and for wider accessibility and capability of augmented reality, how technology has become more widely available, in which areas is it used, how it can make everyday life easier and what its potential dangers are. The focus is on applications and services that use augmented reality in a wider, publicly accessible space. Only some of the areas where augmented reality is used today are tourism, navigation, computer and mobile games, medicine, archeology and education. Modern projects and the use of augmented reality in heritage institutions are also presented.
