This thesis analyzes the four latest poetry collections by Olja Savičević Ivančević – Puzzlerojc, Kućna pravila, Mamasafari (i ostale stvari) and Divlje i tvoje. An overview of the books’ structure will be given first, followed by a description of formal aspects, such as the type of composition (verse or prose) and the use of language. Next, the analysis turns to the content, divided into three chapters: Body, Space and Identity. Each chapter begins with a brief theoretical overview, followed by a description of the topic in each of the books. The theoretical approaches employed in the analysis include body theory, cultural geography, imagology, and psychoanalysis. The thesis concludes that the subjects’ identities are fluid, with the body as one of the main pillars of identity, as well as a source of both pain and pleasure. Bodily changes serve as evidence of growing up, and Savičević Ivančević’s subjects are preoccupied with childhood and spaces that no longer exist. Escapism to childhood and imaginary spaces is a coping mechanism the female subjects employ to come to terms with a reality that can be cruel to them. The final section is dedicated to situating Olja Savičević Ivančević’s poetry within the wider context of contemporary Croatian literature. The thesis concludes that her poetry is hard to put into a mold; more precisely, it is just one among the many poetic styles of younger Croatian poets.
